Rent A Tiny Rustic Cabin

December 11, 2015

A Tiny Rustic A-Frame Cabin For Rent

Outside ViewHere is a tiny house that you can rent for one night, one week, a month, or longer.

If you’ve thought about giving off-grid (roughing it) a try, this one will be of interest to you.

What you get is a unique vacation experience.

This A-frame location is in Gasquet, California. It is deep in the Northern California redwoods and is part of a remote, off-grid village. The nearest neighbor is a Buddhist Hermitage about a mile away.

Nearby sights to see include:

  • Jedediah Smith Park, home of Stout Grove and other beautiful redwood hikes. The entrance to the park is approximately a 34-minute drive.
  • Crescent City is approximately 50 minutes.

If you like nature and a quiet thoroughly relaxing time, you’ll love this place.

If you want to experience living rustic, you’ll love this place.

Within the ecovillage, you’ll find chickens, dogs, frogs, cats, permaculture gardens, and everything to do with sustainability.

Not only will you enjoy peace and quiet, but you’ll also experience living in a small space and sustainable living.

The inside:
Bed

  • There is one bathroom with a composting toilet.
  • The one bed is a futon.
  • There is no electricity, but there are a flashlight and lantern for your use.
  • There is no phone, GPS, or internet service.

The bathhouse has a toilet and a shower.

The outside:

  • There are the resident domestic animals that include three dogs, cats, goats, and chickens.
  • As the location is remote, you may see one or many of various forest animals such as chipmunks, foxes, black bears, birds, and more.
  • There is no kitchen in the cabin. However, there is a shared outdoor kitchen.
  • You’ll find numerous trails that run through the 160-acre property, and lots of forestry roads to explore.
  • You’ll also find a swimming hole nearby.

I would suggest reading through all the information that they offer. The house and location are very rustic.

If you aren’t into remote and rustic, this may not be the vacation for you.

If you are adventurous, love nature, and rustic (or want to give it a try), then this would be the ideal place for you to vacation.

Yurt In WA For Rent

September 23, 2015

Have you ever had the opportunity to stay in a yurt?

YurtI’ve seen them in some campsites we’ve visited. I’ve taken a peek inside. They look comfy and cozy and are quite popular during the warmer months of the year.

They are perfect for someone (or a family) that is in between tent camping and staying in a trailer. They usually have a bed, a kitchenette, and a living area. Some of them have electricity.

The following is a yurt for rent in White Salmon, WA.

The beauty of it is that it is nestled among pine and oak woods.

It’s also close to the small town for your dining and shopping enjoyment.

Previous guests have given it a 5-star rating that is always a good thing to note when looking for a vacation rental.

KitchenInside the yurt.

A yurt is usually one big room that has all the necessities you’ll need for your stay.

There is a bed. It doesn’t say whether it is a double, queen, or king size.

There is a kitchenette with a counter, a small fridge, sink, hot plate, and microwave.

That means there is electricity too so you’ll have lights when needed.

The dining area has a table and chairs.

The common area has a wood stove for chilly days and nights, a lounge chair and a futon that can accommodate two people for sleeping.

BathroomIn the barn:

There is a barn close to the yurt. The barn is where you will find a few more amenities that aren’t available in the yurt.

There is a bathroom, but it doesn’t say whether there is a shower or if there is a tub.

Wireless internet is only available in the barn.

Two extra bedrooms, one big enough to have a comfortable seating area.

Outside the yurt:

There is a deck that overlooks gorgeous views of the woods.

And a washer and dryer available to guests. They are located in the main house.

It has everything needed for a vacation. It may not be all in one building, but nothing is far away.

Yurts have been around for a very long time and only recently becoming a popular vacation option.

  • Couch

The amenities:

  • Two beds – a queen size bed in the sleeping loft, and a sofa bed in the living area. The sleeping loft is accessed by stairs, not a ladder.

Vacation In Hawaii In A Tiny House

Tiny Cottage for Rent in MauiHave you ever dreamed of taking a vacation in Hawaii? How about combining a dream vacation with trying out a tiny house? Or maybe you love vacationing in little houses and enjoying the sights rather than worrying about the expense.

We all know how much some vacations can cost. When you add up all the expenses upon your return, it’s not always a pretty picture.

Here’s your chance to take that Hawaiian vacation and not have to pay for it for the rest of the year.

Hawaiian SceneryThe Hale Moana cottage (as it’s named) is located on Maui, HI. More specifically, on the north shore of Maui. About five minutes from Hookipa Beach Park and close to Haiku, Paia.

From the pictures (you can see all the pictures by clicking the link below), it appears to be a cute, very small place. I love the tranquil green color; matches the green surroundings.

It has one bedroom, one bathroom, a small kitchenette, and a covered deck for your outdoor enjoyment. There is a private outdoor enclosed shower – I’m not sure if it is the only shower or a second one.

Some of the amenities mentioned include internet, TV, and a washer/dryer.

You can see the ocean if you peak between the fruit trees.

Dogs are allowed but if I remember correctly, if you are coming from off the island you won’t be bringing your dog with you because it would have to be quarantined for quite awhile before being allowed entry to the island.

The tiny cottage is located on two acres of family property. The owners made sure to let potential renters know that they have two, very friendly pitt bulls that have the run of the property. If you have a fear of dogs (or pitt bulls in general) this may not be the right place for you to rent.

Romantic Tiny Cottage Rental For Two

Tiny Rental CottageThis tiny rental cottage is very unique and adorable. It’s cute, charming, and romantic – inside and outside. It’s like a tree house, but on the ground.

If you are looking for an intimate getaway, this may just be the place for you.

It was formerly a sculptor’s studio renovated into a charming cottage.

You’ll need to take a look at all the pictures to get a full feel of this place.

It’s located in the Berkshires of Western MA, US. Specifically, on the Santarella Estate in Tyringham.

Romantic BedroomThere is one loft bedroom with a queen size bed. When you take a look at the pictures, you’ll understand one reason why they call it a place for romance.

On the lower level, there is one bathroom, and a sitting area.

There isn’t really a kitchen. From what I can tell, there is a sink, a small fridge, a little counter space, and a microwave.

Some of the amenities include wireless internet and cable TV.

The surrounding outdoor areas and gardens are absolutely gorgeous. There is a brook and a lily pond nearby. And a chimnea and firewood that can be used by guests. Certainly a place to sit, enjoy the outdoors, and relax.

The two acre wooded area has walking paths for a little outing and exercise.

The town is about three miles away.

The owners live on the property, but guests are given all the privacy they want.

It is a popular place to rent, and has a full 5 star review rating. Not surprisingly – you’ll understand when you take a look at the pictures.

It looks like the perfect rental cottage for a mini vacation for two.

Vacation In A Tiny House Village

North Carolina Tiny Vacation HouseWe are finding villages built with tiny houses. Some of them are permanent housing for people that want to live in a community of like-minded people. Others are built for low-income people and families.

There are also a growing number of communities that have been built for the purpose of enjoying a vacation without the huge costs.

You can find tiny vacation homes with only the basic amenities and others with many of the luxuries – all fit into a little house.

Village of Wildflowers Vacation Community is one such community. I can’t tell how many houses there are for rent on the property. The houses look like they are well taken care of, and might be a nice place to vacation.

There are two lakes and walking trails for your enjoyment.

Tiny Vacation House InteriorOnce again, the owners (unfortunately) didn’t take the time to give a better description of the property, surrounding areas, and houses. The reason I’ve added it to the rentals list is that the two images that they have provided look like they are very nice, and fairly new.

I would consider staying in one.

If you would like more information that what they’ve provided, you could write to them asking for more.

Some of the specifics:

  • The cost is $119 per night.
  • There is one bedroom and one bathroom.
  • The house is 400 square feet.
  • It’s located in Flat Rock, North Carolina.

The amenities that are listed include air conditioning, heating, TV, and wireless internet.
Pets are allowed.

You can rent a little house for your vacation and enjoy various locations throughout the year, or you can find your ideal property and build your own cottage.

A Tiny House For Rent In Georgia

Georgia Tiny House RentalWith summer coming upon on very soon, many people are trying to decide what they will do for their vacation.

Renting a tiny house is a good option. It gives you a roof over your head for the small amount of time that you would spend indoors. If you are like most people, you enjoy being outdoors for most of the day during the warmer temperatures.

Here is a place you can rent that won’t cost you a fortune.

It is approximately 256 square feet.

It has everything that you would need for your vacation: air conditioning (a must with Georgia’s climate), cable TV, wireless internet, a kitchen, bathroom with shower, and a fireplace for possible chilly nights.

If you have pets, you’re in luck as pets are allowed.

Something to note: smoking is allowed in this one.

It’s a log cabin that is situated in the Georgia mountains. It overlooks a creek. Unfortunately, there aren’t many pictures to really see what the cabin is like inside but if you want to see more before making a decision, you could write to the owners and ask for more pictures.

They say there are lots of hiking opportunities in the area, and lots of quaint shops to explore. And of course, lots of nature…

Sounds like it would be a very relaxing vacation. You get the best of both worlds – activities, shopping and a view. I find being surrounded by nature and small town shops something that I love for my vacation. That’s the whole point of a vacation – to relax and de-stress.

Want a little more information? Check out the listing and book it here.

Tiny Rustic, Modern House For Rent

April 24, 2015

Tiny Rental Home

Vacation HouseWould you like to try out living in a tiny rental house? It’s a great way to see if it is really something that you would like.

When you go, keep in mind whether you are trying it out as a cottage that you build in your favorite summer location, or if it will be a permanent home for you. Keeping this in mind while staying there does make a difference in how you feel.

This one is so cute. Quite rustic but with many of the modern amenities you’d want for comfort.

Rental House InteriorHere’s how they describe their place:

At 350 square feet, it has a kitchen area, a living room, a tiny bathroom, and a clawfoot tub downstairs.

Upstairs you’ll find the loft bedroom with a queen size bed.

It was built and furnished with reclaimed materials.

Loft BedroomAs you can see in the pictures, it has a rustic, modern flair. In other words, if you are looking for a 5-star place to stay when it comes to all the extras that you pay for, this is not it. If you are looking to get back to the basics in a clean, well-done way – this is your place.

Explaining further – tiny house rentals are just as clean and comfortable as you will find in any house rental. You may not have all the extras that you get at a top rated hotel, but you will have everything that you need for an enjoyable and comfortable vacation.

Back to the basics – with you get private fenced small front yard and your own access.

Apparently there is easy access to walking and biking trails, restaurants, and lots of other things to see.

Overall, this very small house looks like it would be a really nice place for anyone to take a vacation. You can read a lot more about it .

How To Try Out a Tiny House

December 5, 2014

What a View in Vacation Rentals

A couple who stayed in the Northumberland, PA Wood Cliff Cabin said, “The sauna is great and the view is epic.” Besides treetop views and the music of the mountain stream, the seclusion of this retreat allows its visitors to experience a tiny house.

I’ve mentioned this before and still think it is a great idea. If this type of living is something you are interested in yet not sure if you want to dive in, why not try it out?

There are a growing number of tiny houses that people rent out. It seems that as the popularity of small houses and simple living takes hold, we are finding more and more of these .

Most are in scenic areas that includes beautiful views.

Some of these places are simple designs, others have unique architecture like a dome roof, tree house like, and vintage materials. Some are in the city while others are in the countryside with one being off grid and remote.

This way you get to choose what you want to try out and at the same time, you can get some great ideas for you own.

You will be able to see how space is used and what comforts are available for small homes.

Here are a few rentals that I’ve found. Many of them and others can be found on Airnb. They are all inviting. Some are more luxurious and/or have more amenities to enjoy than others which is quite common in vacation places.

The Pocket House – Portland, OR. “A stylish and eco-friendly alternative to the downtown hotel or airport inn.”

Wood Cliff Cabin – Northumberland, PA. “Secluded four season retreat, a small hand built haven providing luxurious beauty and alternative energy, perched on a cliff, 80 feet above a mountain stream.” Fully equipped kitchen, loft bed, and deck. Adjacent bathhouse with sauna, shower and composting toilet.

Pond House – Sonoma County, CA. This tiny house on wheels, next to a large pond. It sits on 52 acres of redwoods and trails. The front porch overlooks the pond. The house sleeps two in a queen bed loft.

Dome – San Francisco Bay area, CA. You will think you are in a tree house with a geodesic dome loft and large deck in the trees.

Work of Art House – Texas Hill Country, TX. A “beautiful Victorian cottage custom made from period reclaimed building materials.” It includes vintage stained glass windows, antique wood floors, and a porcelain tub.

Point Roberts – WA. This tiny house on wheels has a sleeping loft, a sofa bed, and full kitchen.

Half MoonHalf Moon – Gasquet, CA. This place is off the grid. It is part of an off grid village including cabins, farm animals, and permaculture gardens. The cabin includes a kitchen and fireplace.

While visiting these homes, you will be able to see how they are built and what amenities have been included. You may even find options you did not know about. If you are on the fence, it might be worthwhile to try out by visiting a few rental opportunities before making your decisions.

How that for a vacation? You can have fun and study your options all at once.
