The Tiny House Movement | Small House Movement
Although tiny houses have been around for quite a few years, the tiny house movement (which is also known as the small house movement) was not at the forefront of the housing market until hit a few years ago. Now it is in full swing because it is affordable housing.
More and more people are realizing that they don’t want to, and shouldn’t have to live with a lot of debt anymore. And one of the ways they are fixing their lives is by downsizing. Big houses and big lives cost a lot of money to maintain.
You need to think about what is important to you. Do you really need a big house and the appearance of wealth and status plus a ton of debt that goes along with that type of lifestyle? Or would you prefer a happy and healthy life that is free from stress?
When you get rid of the burden of a large house, and the large mortgage that comes with it, you’ll find that you have got rid of a lot of stress too.
Living debt free is a goal that most people have, but few are actually able to get there – until now.
Are you caught in a debt to income ratio slump?
Are you like so many other people and living outside your means – spending more than you earn and falling farther and farther into financial debt?
In most cases, the burden of massive debt creeps up on you. It may have creeped up on you, or you may have seen it coming and didn’t know how to stop it. Either way, the weight of carrying all that debt takes its toll on you, your health, and your life.
That is not how life should be lived. Financial burden is not something you should have to live with. It’s a problem! And it can be reversed.
You don’t have to live like that. In fact, it isn’t healthy for you to live like that. If you are willing to make some sacrifices, you can get out from under the slump and live happily ever after.
Don’t be a slave to your debt. We made a change and we have never regretted our decision. We are on the road to freedom!
In the end you’ll feel so free. Free of most of the stresses that came with living large.
And it all starts with downsizing your life.
Tiny And Small Houses
These are not your typical little house in the country that you’ve seen in the movies. Those houses are the “old way”; they only have the bare essentials and nothing more.
The small houses of today are small, but you have the choice to make it as simple or luxurious as you want. They can have all the amenities you are accustomed to, just on a smaller scale.
You won’t be able to live exactly as you have been accustomed to – you will need to learn to live an organized and clutter-free life. This is a good thing!
Because they are tiny, many of the typical regulations don’t apply to them (you’ll need to check with your city or town ordinances for the specifics to your area). Of course, that depends on the size of the house you are considering. Generally, the smaller the house the easier it is to get permission to build just about anywhere.
Think about it, you can build anywhere you want and because you don’t need a lot of space, the land you buy shouldn’t cost too much. That’s if you decide to buy land to build on.
You can build your tiny home in the city, in someone’s backyard, in the country, by a river or a lake, in the woods – you could even be one of many nomads and build yours on a trailer so that you can take your home with you and live wherever you want, for however long you want.
Going Green
Even better, you could use recycled materials to build your new home and . Small houses need much less materials to assemble than a traditional large house.
Living in a small space, you won’t need much money to pay for utility costs. In fact, it would cost you pennies in comparison to heating your large home.
House Plans and Designs
There are many options available to building a tiny home. You have the option of buying a home kit and assembling your home yourself, attending a workshop to learn in person how to build your new home, or you can have someone do it for you.
You can buy a tiny house prefab and have it delivered to your lot.
Or you can DIY (do-it-yourself) from scratch following a plan that you design or one that you buy from a reputable company.
Affordable Housing
Whichever method you choose, you will be in a win-win situation.
You’ll win the battle over your debt. You’ll be helping the environment. You’ll de-clutter and de-stress your life. You’ll have the money to do what you have always wanted to do. You won’t be living paycheck to paycheck. And you’ll be much happier when you aren’t taking part in the housing crisis and economic depression.
