Great Britain Tiny Housing Designs
It may not small houses to live in full-time. Instead, Great Britainers are building temporary accommodations for use in such was as a garden houses, a cabin, a guest house, alternative living space for a family member, an office, a studio, or a bed and breakfast.
That is a great start to a new market. It all starts with temporary accommodations until people realize that they can live in smaller houses, cut their expenses, and spend less time cleaning and maintaining. Once the realization sets in that they will ultimately have much more leisure time on their hands (time for relaxing and doing what is really important – living life to the fullest), the demand for little homes grows. It snowballs into better house designs and more luxurious small house living conditions.
Most of the dwellings that are currently being built, are being constructed with all the necessary amenities along with some of the luxuries we’ve all grown accustomed to. The ones that are meant to be lived in, even if only temporarily, are built with the day-to-day needs of living in mind.
If it’s a place that is built for other purposes (studio or office), the design and build is a little simpler.
The little and portable places are the perfect inexpensive accommodation option for students. We all know how expensive housing for university students is. When a student chooses one of these very small places and shares the living space and expenses with one or more other students, they will have effectively cut their housing costs tremendously. I don’t think I need to mention what a financial relief that would be for now and for the future.
I’m happy to see that the movement for houses that are tiny is finally starting to catch on in the UK. It’s proven to be a viable and beneficial option for many people in North America. It’ll be interesting to see how quickly the movement grows.
